Tim Blair notes and article from CrushKerry.com that indicates Kerry insiders are beginning to recognize the damage being done to their campaign by the loonies:

"I don't know if it was them. I don't know anything about it, first hand. But I can tell you everyone here [at Kerry HQ] thinks they gave it to CBS. And lots of people here think they created the damn thing," our source told us.

Our source also expressed deep frustration at what she called the "hijacking of our campaign and our party by the amateurs at MoveOn.org."

"Those guys don't know campaigns. They're driven by their emotions, not by the dispassionate resolve it takes to win a campaign. And so they're prone to do stupid things like this, which hurts everybody," she said.

Mark Steyn also has thoughts on the effectiveness of MoveOn.

This all comes on the heels of Katie "Commie" Couric's amazing but little noticed beat down of Michael Moore. You know he's hurting Kerry when even a loonie lefty like Katie, who by the way is two days into a 3 day stint of hosting Kitty Kelley on her morning show, is trashing him.

The kind of damage I have been pointing repeatedly, most recently on Sept 7:

On the one hand, we have intelligent people of both parties realize that we are all Americans. They know that while each party places greater emphasis on certain issues, both care about the same core set of issues. They realize that though the solutions proposed may be different, the goals are the same - a better America. It is even obvious to most that both majors parties share many of the same set of shortcomings, again with some worse in one party than the other based on which shortcoming you are talking about.

While these people may prefer one party over the other because that party places more emphasis on the issues that the person believes are the most important, they can also be swayed when it is clear that the other party's candidate has better solutions or when the issues that the other party is stronger on are the most important issues of the day. These intelligent people are the soccer moms who elected Clinton twice because of the economy and the Reagan Democrats who elected him twice because of his national security and economic issues.

On the other we have people like the foaming at the mouth Clinton haters who think he personally whacked Vince Foster after having sex with Paula Jones while bilking Whitewater investors out of zillions of dollars. We have Michael Moore openly hoping for the defeat of American forces in Iraq while blaming 9/11 on President Bush. And now we Daily "screw them" Kos gleefully anticipating a piece of trash unworthy of even the worst of Tabloids, Kitty Kelley's new book, which is expected to contain such pertinent "facts" as these:

[a juicy tidbit on] Dubya's 'special friend' a mayor of an unnamed Tennessee city and of unnamed gender...

It reveals alleged sex offenses against minors by Dubya's father.

It reveals the use of the White House by male hookers.

It reveals crooked business deals by every member of the Bush clan, including the oh-so-holy first lady, Laura "Round Heels" Bush.

It reveals how former first lady Babs Bush is almost a practicing witch.

It reveals how Dubya has had a very special friend in the mayor of a Tennessee city, who has has cohabited the Texas ranch many times.

It reveals the details of embarassing photographs of Bush that actually caused U.S. Govt. agents to perpetrate the anthrax mailings to destroy the building of National Enquirer and kill photo editor Stevens.

It reveals how you can get surprisingly close to America's Darth Vader.

It reveals the incredible relationship between Dubya and some famous televangelists.

It reveals intimate details gleaned from persons close to Bush in Crawford, Texas.

It reveals the filth of Bush's ancestors, the most shocking family in US history.

It reveals how Bush plans additional wars for oil, under the pretense of fighting terrorism and defending Israel -- these are just pretenses, the real reason is we are running out of oil.

It reveals Dubya's oedipus complex with Babs, his love/hate relationship with his father, some surprising medical details about Duby, including an explanation of why he is so burnt out.

It reveals who runs Bush, and it is not Round Heels.

It reveals murders committed by the Bush family.

It reveals why George W. Bush is the greatest threat the US and the world has ever faced.

This book makes Fahrenheit 9/11 look like pablum. It is real raw meat.

Hear this now, understand it later - people are sick of this shit, along with the Michael Moore crockumentary, the MoveOn Bush is Hitler crap, the anarchist protesters, and the blind rabid Bush hatred is driving the middle away from the Democrats. The focus on this kind of garbage when things like the Beslan Massacre are happening in the world makes Democrats look like unserious fools.

Kerry isn't the only one in danger anymore - this is going to start pouring over into local elections. The Democrats need to start doing damage control and renounce this stuff and distance themselves as much as possible and at every opportunity or risk doing irreparable damage to themselves. Doing so may endanger the run at the White House, but failure to do so is going to cost them House and Senate seats as well.

udpate: Congratulations to Time Magazine and Newsday for rising above the fray and ignoring this putrid bile put forth by Kelley. In light of my previous comments, I almost wonder if they are doing Kerry a favor by ignoring this tripe.
